The Nightmare

This is not the nightmare page. It’s the introduction — although I’ve included a couple of “goodies” here. By “nightmare”, I don’t mean that page that you can never seem to get working right. I mean the kind of page you encounter all too frequently — usually created by a teen-age boy, but not unknown among older netizens of both sexes — that is a meaningless morass of “cool” effects. And, as the author often informs you, always under construction. Duh!

Sorry, your browser doesn't support Java.

This topic is very well covered on Web Pages That Suck, but Vincent Flanders, the author, is aiming more at business sites than at personal pages. So this is my Personal Home Pages example of suckiness. To spare you the 20 minute load time (yes, some of those pages actually take that long to load), I have not included everything sucky on this page, but I’ve tried to get some of it. The meaningless popups, “cool” effects, Java jobbies, bad music (hidden, of course). Oh yes, and a hidden link. See if you can find it without peeking at the source (hint — you don’t have to click it). And can you find the “unintentionally” hidden text? . . . Well, I shouldn't tell you any more.

You can see for yourself.
